In March 2014, ZF broke ground on the 10th plant in India, and the company will invest Rs 1.5 billion (about US$ 25 million) in this project.
The new plant, located in Chakan, near Pune, India, will integrate ZF’s passenger car powertrain and commercial vehicle technology and services business in the future. The new plant is scheduled to be operational in 2015 and will employ 350 employees to develop powertrains for passenger cars and components for commercial vehicles .
In 2013, ZF generated US$3 billion in operating revenue in the Asia-Pacific region, of which India’s market share accounted for 4% to 5%. In the Indian market, 50% of ZF’s operating revenue comes from commercial vehicle parts business, and passenger car and industrial parts business account for 40% and 10%, respectively.
ZF is currently supporting electric power steering systems for Tata's NanoTwist small cars, and the company is now working hard to increase its presence in the popular passenger car market in India.
Polyphenylene sulfide-PPS
PPS plastic (polyphenylene sulfide) is a comprehensive performance of thermoplastic special engineering plastics, its outstanding features are high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and superior mechanical properties. Through the addition of glass fibers or other reinforcing materials modified, the impact strength can be greatly improved, heat resistance and other mechanical properties have also been improved, the density increased to 1.6-1.9, molding shrinkage is small to 0.15-0.25%, suitable for making heat-resistant parts, insulating parts and chemical instruments, optical instruments and other parts.
Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), is a new type of high-performance thermoplastic resin, with high mechanical strength, high temperature resistance, chemical resistance, flame retardant, good thermal stability, excellent electrical properties, etc.,, the heat distortion temperature is generally greater than 260 degrees, chemical resistance is second only to polytetrafluoroethylene, mobility is second only to nylon, is one of the best heat-resistant varieties of engineering plastics, modified varieties of which it will become the sixth largest engineering materials.
Product features:
1. It can be used for special engineering plastics injection molding processing, precision processing, without special processing equipment.
2. Good flame retardant, compared with other plastics, it belongs to high flame retardant materials in plastics.
3. Excellent thermal properties, short-term resistance of 260 ℃, and can be used for a long time at 200 ~ 240 ℃.
4. Good chemical resistance, its chemical stability is second only to F4, excellent radiation resistance.
Shortcomings: the price is too high, in the high temperature resistant materials in the bottom of the price, but much higher than the general engineering plastics; poor toughness, brittle sex; medium viscosity is not stable. Pure PPS is seldom used because of its brittle performance, and the application of PPS is mostly for its modified performance varieties.
PPS has excellent heat resistance, its melting point is more than 280 ℃, the heat distortion temperature under 1.8MPa load is more than 260 ℃, the long-term use of the temperature of 220-240 ℃. PPS resin itself has a very good flame retardant, without the need to add flame retardant to achieve the UL94-0 grade and 5-V (no drop), and the amount of smoke in the combustion process is very low. The mechanical strength of pure PPS resin is not considered to be high, after reinforced by glass fiber or carbon fiber or mineral filling, its strength and rigidity increase exponentially, and has excellent creep resistance and fatigue resistance. High surface hardness, Rockwell hardness>100HR, tensile strength>170MPa, bending strength>220MPa, notched impact strength>16MPa, bending modulus>3.5×104.
