Beijing 8 Expressway Commences Construction in the Next Two Years

According to information from the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, eight high-speed roads will be built around Beijing in the next two years. Among them, the Guangzhou-Guangzhou high-speed highway between the Sixth Ring Road and Huanghuan Bridge (expansion) project will also start this year, and it is expected to be completed by the end of next year. The new airport expressway that was scheduled to start next year is also expected to start construction this year.

It is understood that the National Development and Reform Commission needs to coordinate the construction of a new airport to connect the fast track of the center of Beijing, Beijing to Bazhou Railway, Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed highway from Liuhuan to Huangqi Bridge (expansion), Beijing-Taiwan Expressway, Beijing Wuhuan to city boundary, Beijing City The new five-longitudinal-two-transport main backbone network from the new airport to the Bazhou Expressway, the new airport north line expressway and the Langfang Jingxin Intercity Railway to the Luzhou Intercity Railway will be built in parallel with the Beijing New Airport.

According to reports, the new airport expressway north from the South Second Ring Road, south to the new airport, a total length of about 39 kilometers. The new airport expressway, which was originally scheduled to start next year and was completed in 2018, is expected to start construction ahead of schedule this year to open early.

Beijing-Taiwan Expressway (Beijing Section), starting from Jiugong Township in Daxing District in the north, and 26.6 kilometers in length to the south of Tianjiaying Village in Beijing and Chongqing, the preliminary estimate is RMB 9.66 billion. The starting group is at the end of last year and is currently carrying out land acquisition. The demolition work will be completed by the end of 2016.

Under the background of the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, the city will also open up a northwest corridor to ease the huge traffic pressure on the Beijing section of the Beijing-Tibet Expressway. It is planned to be located on the west side of the Beijing-Tibet Expressway at Xingyan Expressway, from the junction of the West Sixth Ring Road and the North Sixth Ring Road in the south, and to the north of the Yingchengzi Interchange Toll Station in the north, with a total length of 42.4 kilometers. It is planned to be completed by 2018. In addition, the Guangzhou-Guangzhou high-speed highway from the Sixth Ring Road to Huanghuan Bridge (expansion) project will also begin this year and is expected to be completed by the end of next year together with the Beijing-Taiwan Expressway.

According to the person in charge of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the city will actively adopt a market-oriented approach, introduce social capital to participate in these major projects, and allow social investors to control the project company and participate in all aspects of investment, construction, and operations. In the next step, we will focus on the marketization of these major projects, further improve the investment return mechanism, and open up an unimpeded channel for attracting social capital to invest in major infrastructure projects in the city.
